Position Summary
The Practice Lead / Country Lead at Wells Onyx is an executive-level, entrepreneurial role designed for leaders with deep knowledge of the Japanese market. This hybrid role is integral to our growth and success, serving as the direct interface for both existing and new clients within Japan. The Practice Lead / Country Lead will also be responsible for driving the strategic vision and operational excellence of Wells Onyx in Japan. This role is on a track towards partnership and potentially managing partner roles, with a strong emphasis on merit and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Client Relationship Management:

    • Act as the primary point of contact for clients in Japan.

    • Build, nurture, and maintain strong relationships with executive-level clients and stakeholders.

    • Understand client needs and deliver tailored solutions to drive client success.

  2. Business Development:

    • Identify and close new business opportunities within the Japanese market.

    • Develop and implement strategies to expand the client base and drive revenue growth.

    • Collaborate with the global business development team to align on strategies and goals.

  3. Executive Delivery:

    • Ensure the highest level of service delivery to clients.

    • Oversee and manage the execution of client engagements, ensuring satisfaction and strategic alignment.

    • Monitor project performance and take corrective actions as needed.

  4. Strategic Leadership:

    • Develop and lead the strategic vision for the practice area within Japan.

    • Drive the overall success of Wells Onyx in Japan through effective leadership and strategic planning.

    • Align regional strategies with global objectives to ensure cohesive operations.

  5. Team Building:

    • Recruit, mentor, and lead a team of professionals to support client engagements and strategic initiatives.

    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture.

    • Implement professional development programs to enhance team capabilities.

  6. Operational Management:

    • Oversee the operational aspects of Wells Onyx in Japan, including financial management, resource allocation, and compliance.

    • Implement efficient processes and systems to streamline operations and enhance productivity.

    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

  7. Partnerships and Alliances:

    • Identify and develop strategic partnerships and alliances that enhance service delivery and expand the firm’s capabilities in the region.

    • Maintain strong relationships with key industry stakeholders and partners.

  8. Merit-Based Advancement:

    • Demonstrate exceptional performance and contribution to be considered for partnership and managing partner tracks.

Qualifications

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in management consulting, executive search, or a related field, with a proven track record of client relationship management and business development in Japan.

  • Leadership:

    • Demonstrated leadership experience with a focus on strategic delivery, team building, and operational management.

  • Entrepreneurial Spirit:

    • Strong entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and drive growth.

  • Communication:

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence executive-level clients.

    • Proficiency in Japanese and English is required.

  • Strategic Thinking:

    • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and execute long-term plans.

  • Results-Oriented:

    • Highly results-oriented, with a commitment to achieving exceptional outcomes for clients and the firm.

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.

  • Local Knowledge:

    • Deep understanding of the Japanese market and business environment.
